I finished updating another family room. This client lives in Chino Hills and she needed a fresh start in her family room. The previous furniture had served them well for 20 years. Her children are older which means grand kids are in the near future, so she wanted the family room to accommodate a larger amount of people comfortably. This also meant that the finishes and fabric had to be kid friendly. The rest of her home is traditional and so I kept the same style in the family room. She requested pops of navy and red and a sideboard to accommodate toys. I brightened the room with white sheer cotton curtains and chose a neutral color for the large sectional. The sectional is huge but fit perfectly in the space. The nod to traditional came in the tufted ottoman and the accent pillows. I love the sideboard that we picked up at the Pottery Barn outlet in West Covina, CA.We removed the pine and cheery wood finishes and updated the space with walnut finishes. We also completely redid the fireplace. It was previously red brick and it did not go all the way to the top of the ceiling. I thought that the room needed a focal point and knew that the fireplace had to be it. It turned out wonderfully! I had so much fun redoing this space and my client is the best.
Here are some pictures of the project. You can also find more pictures in my portfolio.
