This kitchen started off as a tiny, enclosed galley kitchen with a separate laundry room. The previous layout did not allow for much storage and it felt cramped. Because the layout wasn’t optimal, there was a lot of space that was underused even though every square inch mattered. The home itself isn’t very large, so I knew we had to maximize the space of these two rooms while accommodating to the needs of the homeowners.

We tore down the walls of the laundry room and the walls that enclosed the galley kitchen to open up the layout to the living room and dining room. After this was done, the entire space felt open and inviting. The removal of these walls created a mini great room which is hard to do in a 1950’s California ranch style home. We created an entirely new layout for the cabinets and appliances. We extended the kitchen out into the dining room (there was enough space that allowed us to do so), and added a peninsula with seating. The cabinets now extend all the way to the ceiling to create an enormous amount of storage. It helped make the kitchen feel stately and spacious.

This white transitional kitchen is one of my favorite projects of 2016. These custom cabinets make this kitchen a showstopper. They are a bright white with a satin finish which make them easier to clean. The chrome hardware shines brightly and compliments the gray porcelain tiles. The porcelain tiles run throughout the kitchen and run up to the ceiling where the range hood sits. This kitchen has storage for days. The homeowner insisted on granite so I am so grateful we were able to find a white granite.

We love being able to help people reach their houses’ full potential. My clients vary greatly–from young adults just starting out to doctors to actors–but each of them wanted a change within an affordable range. That can come in the form of a budget friendly e-design or an entire home renovation for $30,000. As much as we want to deck out a home with high end finishes and with an unlimited budget, we understand that isn’t always possible. We are happy to provide custom assistance no matter what the budget.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this kitchen we designed. We hold the excitement for 2017 just like everyone else. We have optimism, hope and directive for progression and change.
